Prep Play-Area
AT SJIS, we are not only tasked with preparing children for their future careers, but also teaching essential life skills, habits and attitudes that will help them successfully navigate adulthood. To do this and provide the best learning experience for students requires outdoor physical activity.
The pre-primary play area at our school is a vibrant and stimulating environment designed to cater to the developmental needs of our youngest students. This space is carefully curated to foster a sense of wonder, curiosity, and creativity while providing a safe and engaging setting for early childhood education.
The play area is spacious and thoughtfully landscaped, offering a variety of play zones that cater to different aspects of a child’s growth. It includes soft, rubberized flooring to ensure safety during playtime. The area is enclosed with secure fencing to provide a protected space for the children.
Colourful play structures dominate the landscape, featuring slides, swings, climbing frames, and tunnels that encourage physical activity, coordination, and balance. These elements are designed to promote gross motor skills and keep the children active and healthy. Nearby, there’s a splash pool, allowing children to experiment with the properties of water and develop fine motor skills.
By creating an environment where children can experience unstructured play, we are not only supporting their physical health but also increasing their chances to succeed in the classroom. Kids pay more attention to academic tasks when they are given frequent, brief opportunities for free play. Unstructured physical activity on the playground helps kids become smarter, healthier and stronger.
